Hey there. Thanks for stopping by. I'm Andrew Ledford, a copywriter, creative strategist, and content strategist based in Oakland, CA.
For 13 years I've taken complicated things and made them simple, clear, and worth reading — for B2B tech companies like Snowflake, Cloudflare, and Airtable, for consumer brands, and for a heavy metal band called Metallica (yes, that one). I've spent time in the trenches at Warner Bros. Records, lived agency life, and I still run my own freelance shop, built on words and chutzpah.
What I love most is taking a brand's whole pitch and finding the single line that makes it all stick. That's creativity as I understand it: a way to connect... to make someone feel something.
I'm not afraid of trying things that might not work. I've been leading my own DIY band for 20 years and running my own shop for 10. In either case, there wasn't a playbook... just a lot of taking risks, learning lessons, and doing better each time out. (You have to be a glutton for punishment to keep a DIY band going this long. I'm at peace with it.)
Life as an industry outsider has its perks. I've worn a lot of hats, driven by endless curiosity, a love of learning, and a belief that life's too short to keep doing the same things over and over. I don't think like a typical copywriter, strategist, or marketer, and I think that's exactly what makes me a good one. I bridge teams, translate between people, and build the ideas that actually land.
I'm looking for the right in-house role, and I take on freelance work in the meantime. If you have questions, a project, or you just want to shoot the shit, ping me through the contact form and let's chat.
